Things to Consider Before Choosing the Right Air Hose!

Often people think that an air hose is an ordinary item and can be chosen by randomly picking. But no, it can never be so, and one must consider several factors before buying an air hose. Factors like dimension, material, function, the overall length of the hose, internal diameter, etc. need to be considered before buying the air hoses. Since pollution is now a major concern in the world, therefore one also needs to consider the type of material with which the hoses is made. Let's have a look at all the factors that need to be considered before buying an air hose.

1. Length of the hose

This is one of the most important factors. Depending upon fast feed milling inserts the type of environment where the hose will be used, the length is decided. Well, air hoses come in different lengths based on the type of applications. The length is chosen after considering the distance between the compressor and the pneumatic tool. Although a long hose allows a greater difference between the two, some air pressure is always lost in between. On the other hand, a shorter hose is more compatible with small spaces and usually works well with a portable compressor.

2. ID or the Internal Diameter of the hose

The ID determines the rate at which the compressed air is transmitted through the hose, and therefore, this needs to be carefully considered. An air hose usually comes in 6mm, 8mm, and 10mm IDs. If the hose has a greater diameter, then more litres per minute (l/min) of air can be supplied. But, while choosing the right ID of the hose, one must never forget to consider its length as well. It is to keep in mind that the ID also affects the weight of the hose.

3. Design

No, hoses don't come in a variety of designs. But the two most common and important designs are straight and curly. A straight air hose lies flat and does not have coils or bends. However, sometimes, they also get kinks which reduces or even cuts off the air supply. Nevertheless, they are the easiest to handle. On the other hand, curly air hoses resemble traditional telephone cables. Although they appear short in length because of the curls, they are mostly longer than the flat ones. They are easy to store because they spring back after use. However, they require some strength to carry.

4. Material

Knowing the material with which the hoses is made is important because it impacts the weight, durability, and flexibility of the air hose. Since the working environment differs from place to place, therefore, if the material is not suitable, then the hoses might not perform well. If an air hoses cracks, absorbs dirt, or softens due to dirt, then it might be a faulty one. Materials that are light in weight can be braided with steel or fibre layers. Polyurethane is generally considered to be a good material for a hoses. Other thermoplastics are resistant to extremes of climate and also have a low rate of expansion. These types of hoses are generally used in rigorous industrial applications. Some hoses are even made of ozone-resistant materials.

Always choose the right air hoses!

Keeping in mind all safety reasons, the right hoses must be selected because it has an impact on the working environment. One must always check the application pressure of the hose. In addition to this, the hoses must also be selected after analysing the potential pressure of the piping system. And most importantly, one must slot milling cutters always double-check all the specifications before buying the right hose.
